Figures Round a Table by Candlelight // Gerrit Van Deurs // About 1663-1664

This painting represents tenebrism in the way that there is dramatic contrasting lights and shadows happening. This technique makes it look very creepy and almost haunting because there is so many dark, dark shadows throughout the painting. The figures seem stressed and/or worried about something and it is also interesting at how close they all are in the painting. They looked almost trapped in their surroundings.

A Lancet Window

This lancet window is on the side of the First Congregational Church. It is a tall narrow window with a pointed arch at the top. It holds two stained glass windows and coherently matches the side of the church in a way with its stone like pattern on the glass.

Roman Arch Design

This arch on the inside of the Columbus Museum of Art on the second floor is a good representation of Roman arch design. It is a half circle arch with a keystone of some sort in the middle of the arch at the top.

The First Congregational Church

The First Congregational Church is a basilica plan church.

These ionic columns are presented on the front of the First Church of Christ Scientist. The columns are a good representation the ancient Greek architecture in the way that they are small and thin and curve at the tops.

Torso of Venus // Aristide Maillol // 1920

This sculpture shows the famous contrapposto pose the represented more movement and personality with sculptures once artists started to sculpt this way. This is a sculpture of the torso of Venus who is a Greek Goddess. Maillol was focused mainly on the voluptuous curves of Venus than the traditional, full body sculpture that had been done in the past.

Gift Of Frederick W. Schumacher // A.D. 1937

This relief sculpture shows men all positioned in a line with the exception of a few men sitting in front of the men standing. The men all have the same expression on their face because they all look stern or maybe proud in some way. Some men are looking towards the right, some men are looking towards the left, and other men are looking straight ahead. There is smaller figures of en placed throughout the piece and they seem to be doing the same thing with their expressions and their gazes. There is a scene in the background with some buildings and even a man riding a horse. Also, everyone in the picture looks calm and almost like the are waiting for something.
